Catch Up on Lizzy's Origin Story

The Origin Story of Lizzy Lizard

Chapter 1:

🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎

Lizzy was born into a small clutch of two. Unfortunately her sibling did not make it long after hatching. He had passed before Liz had even begun to crack the exterior of her shell. Her mother mourned the loss of her kin and moved on assuming Lizzy had been lost as well.

When she finally found the strength to reach out and crack her birthing cocoon, the sun blasted her in the eyes and she coward back inside.

Over the next few days she began eating her shell from the inside out ever listening for whatever lurked beyond the shattered dome above.

Gaining strength, she began to venture out. She poked her head out of the top of her tattered shell and peered around in wonder. Eyes wide, mouth agape, she leaned forward and the egg began to tip.

With her only home beginning to roll, she tucked her head back inside and held tight. Her unintentional vehicle had begun careening down the hill side. Cracks began materializing around her and she quickly braced them however she could.

She pushed hard on one expanding crack and her hand broke through to the cool air outside. As the shell continued to roll her hand touched wet grass and she grasped on tight! Her egg crumbled around her forearm and continued down the hillside.

She lay on her back with her anchor tight in the right hand. Rolling over to her stomach, she took another hand full of grass and looked around.

The wind was light and the only sound available was the faint crumbling of her shell in the distance. At was a new world and Lizzy had tumbled right in to it…..

Chapter 2:

Lizzy climbed her way back up the hill, following the path of her fall as close as she could. The sun gradually breached the horizon as she wriggled back up the incline. Peering around her, she noticed two dark spots floating in the distance.

Sunlight glistened over blue scales as she approached and a buzzing emitted from the mysterious dots. A sudden rumble struck her belly and her mouth began to water. Her instinctual guidance system magnetized and the spinning mesmerized.

All at once and without intention, her mouth slipped open and a dot disappeared from her

gaze. She snapped back her head and compressed her jaw. A crunch echoed through her skull and down her spine. With a warm wriggle, she took another bite. Juices burst from the carcass and sprayed her pallet. β€œFood,” she thought, β€œmust find some more of that!”

She raised her glance to the remaining morsel and gulped down her first. Stepping forward, she snatched the second fly from the air without hesitation and continued toward their source.

As she approached she saw flakes of white catching the ambient light. And noticed a shallow indent with chunks of soil loose and askew. It was her clutch. Not much remained besides a few scraps of her shell. Any footprints of kin had long since washed away.

Lizzy sat down in the small crater, scanning her surroundings. The air was peaceful and serene. She took a moment to take stock of her situation. It wasn't until then that she heard the birds chirping in the distance.

Her heart sank. She couldn't understand why but the sound brought with it, an overwhelming sense dread. She sunk low into her hole and peaked above the rim nervously. Where was she?

Chapter 3:

🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎

Clumps of compacted dirt fell to the ground and burst on impact, like tiny brown explosions before her eyes. Lizzy shook her head to loosen the excess and stared deeply into the soil. Her heart trembled with the thought of gazing skyward as the ominous screeching continued in the distance. She peeked slowly around her hole, trying to ease her growing anxiety. What was happening, and why?

Pressing her chest to the earth, she scrunched low and inched her way towards the edge of her roofless shelter. With fingers touching blades of grass, she slowly raised her eyes over the brim to what lay beyond. The space around her seemed vacant and serene as the persistent

caw continued in the distance. Petrified and alone, she urged herself to move but seemed frozen in place.

The tormenting screams seemed to grow closer and multiply as the wind whistled peacefully around her. Cautiously, she allowed her gaze drift upward, meeting endless blue, scattered with white blotches, drifting slowly overhead. Circling within the emptiness were several black silhouettes, growing larger with each rotation.

Her thoughts went blank, and legs spun wildly with no conscious intent. Body separated from mind, her vessel rushed her from the hole and across the open meadow. Before she could know what had happened, she found herself surrounded by twigs and foliage. Climbing slowly up a twisted branch, she crept her way beyond the mass of leaves and peered towards

the sky. The creatures drew closer.

She stayed perfectly still as her branch began to shutter. Bouncing up and down with a rhythmic thump developing behind her. She watched as the birds began diving suddenly towards the ground and shooting directly back to the sky, something wriggling in their beaks. Lizzy shuddered, that thing was alive.

The thumps grew to a rumble as her eyes stayed transfixed on the diving raptors. She sat frozen, without any thought of escape. The rumbling overpowered all sound around her and her branch snapped from beneath her feet.

She fell flat on her back and caught her first glimpse, to source the commotion. Several giant grey creatures towered over her, baring long white tusks and snake-like trunks.

Approaching rapidly, one bared down then let out a trumpeting wail! Lizzy quickly shuffled backward, further into the bush.

The herd of elephants made their way around and past her chosen shelter, then continued toward a mass of water in the distance. As they moved, she looked back to check the status of the birds. The mammoth creatures made their way through the meadow, and Lizzy’s would be predators made haste in their departure. Dispersing quickly into the distant trees. Lizzy took a sigh of relief and began quietly following closely behind her unlikely heroes.

Chapter 4:

🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎

Lizzy stayed low as she followed behind the massive creatures, creeping carefully between blades of grass as they waved and quivered with the wind. The ground shook violently with each step from the herd and she did her best to keep her distance, watching carefully to ensure her safety. Each step calculated, attempting to become one with the herd. The wind wiped past her ears, and she watched carefully.

The soil beneath her feet began to pulsate around her and she braced to maintain her balance. She surveyed the space around her and queried, β€œwhat’s going on? Her body tightened and she lost her breath as something lifted her from the dirt. A grey mass ingulfed her and her body began to tremble as she feared a predator had earned their lunch.

"Hey buddy, what are you doing down there?" echoed an unknown voice as Liz landed on an unstable grey surface; "you gotta be carful, you're just a little guy, and birds are not friendly."

"…Um, hello?" Lizzy replied, terrified and fighting for stability on the mobile surface.

"Hey there little one!" the voice answered, with the sound echoing beneath her feet, "you doing OK back there?"

"I think so?" she questioned as she began to survey her surroundings, shocked at her distance from the earth.

"You think so?" the moving surface replied, "you looked a bit scared down there; but with the herd, you're always safe."

Lizzy's nerves began to calm, and she made her way

in the direction the mass was traveling, "Who are you?" she inquired.

"Just part of the herd," it replied, with the words rumbling beneath her feet. Lizzy scrunched back down to ensure her stability but continued the struggle to retain understanding.

"Who are you?" she inquired as she continued to scan her surroundings, "what's going on?"
Beneath her feet bellowed a laugh, "Heh, you're fine friend, couldn't be safer. Just relax, soon we'll stop to drink," he explained, "or enjoy the ride, I'm easy."

Lizzy dropped her gaze to the wrinkled grey floor beneath her feet, wondering if safety was truly existent.

"Really Bud, it's a long ride," the creature explained, "you're safe here."

Lizzy thought some more, then settled her bones on the moving surface, attempting to brace her position. Maintaining her silence but balancing to avoid the long fall. She began to gain comfort and started drifting to sleep.

Wind wrapped around her compressed form, and she stood up with urgency. Swinging her eyes in the direction of the blowing, she observed more grey and white. The air around her pulsated and she struggled to maintain her gaze.

All at once, the gust ceased and she noticed a bird before her, within striking distance.
